Addressing the healthcare needs though Health Camps

Sugamya India Foundation’s quality interventions are aimed at increasing accessibility and quality in healthcare. Empowering communities through awareness and knowledge involving the marginalised sections of the society. An outreach session was conducted in the resettlement colony of East Delhi, Kalyanpuri. A free health camp and an awareness session, which included maternal and reproductive health, anaemia and nutrition, and early identification and treatment of communicable diseases.

Sugamya India Foundation organised a health camp and a breast cancer awareness session in Palam Village, Delhi. A number of patients were screened for Non-Communicable Diseases (Hypertension and Diabetes), treated, counselled and referred accordingly to the nearest health facility. Mothers accompanying children were also educated for complete immunisation and nutrition focussing on Under 5 age group.

Project: “चेतना अभियान”

The month of September is celebrated as the National Nutrition Month (पोषण माह) every year with an aim to reduce malnutrition and anaemia among children, adolescent girls and pregnant & lactating mothers and improve their health. Under this campaign, Sugamya India Foundation organised awareness sessions in Mehrauli and Palam area of Delhi to make people aware with its importance of breastfeeding, nutrition & balanced diet and to develop healthy food habits in the community.

Breast Cancer awareness

October is the Breast Cancer Awareness Month, also called as the PINK MONTH is an annual campaign to increase awareness of this disease among people. The theme for this year, 2022, was “Together We Rise”, following which Sugamya India Foundation organised an awareness session in Palam village, Delhi to make women aware of importance of screening and early detection of breast cancer. Women were also educated for Self-Breast Examination (SBE) and its importance in early detection of cancer.

Prevention of Breast Cancer

  • Regular physical activity
  • Encourage breastfeeding
  • Avoid excessive weight gain
  • Avoid Alcohol & Smoking
  • Avoid prolonged use of hormones and hormonal contraceptives
